Roatan Tennis Open: The Island's First Major Tennis Tournament Promoting Sports Tourism

The Honduras Women’s Tennis Association, in collaboration with Pristine Bay and Paradise Beach Hotel, has announced the “Roatan Tennis Open”, a sports event aimed at promoting sports tourism on the island.

In an exclusive interview, Sebastián Plocharski, a representative of Pristine Bay, explained that these events align with the resort’s mission to become the premier tennis destination on the island. He highlighted that Pristine Bay’s facilities are ideal for activities such as tennis and pickleball, in addition to being a beachfront resort and a golf destination.

Plocharski also mentioned the resort’s plans to continue promoting tennis, intending to organize three to four championships per year while maintaining the courts in top condition. Additionally, he emphasized that Pristine Bay will offer special rates for tournament participants and will keep them informed about future events through their social media channels.

Cecilia Wolozny and Maybelle Casco, representatives of the Honduras Women’s Tennis Association, pointed out that although the association has been active for nine years, the “Roatan Tennis Open” will be their first tournament on the island, with the goal of fostering sports tourism.

The tournament will take place from March 6 to 8, featuring A, B, and C categories, and will welcome players from Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, Guatemala, and the United States.

Wolozny also expressed gratitude to Pristine Bay for their collaboration in the event, which will include a welcome cocktail, a closing dinner, and special rates for participants. She emphasized that this tournament will become an annual event, featuring a high level of play.

Additionally, Wolozny thanked Paradise Beach Hotel for its support in organizing this event, which holds great promise for the island.

The event is backed by several sponsors, including the Roatán Municipality, the Fire Department, the Tourism Bureau, Galaxy Wave, Frio Partes, Sun Water, and more. Javier Durón, a representative of Paradise Beach Hotel, expressed the hotel’s appreciation for being a sponsor of this sporting event, adding that there will be numerous prizes for the winners.
