About Kitesurfing.

Like in all extreme sports, Kitesurfing is full of exhilaration. The sport offers a freeing experience. It takes a few hours to harness the power of the wind and learn how to ride the board, but once you sort it out, Kitesurfing is an experience like few others.

Kitesurfing is a surface water sport, driven by the wind, using a kite and board to move through the water. Apart from having the second largest coral reef in the world and crystalline beaches, Roatan's destination also offers the opportunity to do this activity, regardless of whether you are an expert or not. Kitesurfing provides lessons for beginners and advanced riders alike.

If you would like Kitesurf, consider our friends at Kitesurf Roatan. They're located in Camp Bay, on the Roatan's East End. Camp Bay Lodge is a waterfront property with a restaurant. You can book several activities through the Lodge as well if you're looking for things to do. Camp Bay Lodge offers an intimate setting that will make you feel right at home.

Kitesurfing season

Without a doubt, any time of year makes for an excellent visit to Roatan. That said, activities like Kitesurfing are best during the windy season between February and August each year.

During the windy season, the waves, wind, and the weather itself is very favorable for Kitesurfing on Roatan. That's not to say you cannot surface any other month; you can. Other activities to consider while on Roatan's east end are visiting St. Helene, a mangrove tour, fishing, a boat tour, snorkeling, scuba diving, and hiking on Roatan's only national preserve wilderness.

Traveling to Roatan’s East End

There are different ways to get to Camp Bay. If you want to do it on your own, you should follow the airport's main road and head east towards French Harbor for approximately 25 kilometers past Oak Ridge and until you reach the end of the paved road at Punta Gorda. At the Punta Gorda intersection, turn right onto the unpaved road. Soon after, you'll pass Marble Hill Farm and Paya Bay Resort. The route will then climb a slope; you will enter the Camp Bay area, Camp Bay Lodge, and La Sirena.

We recommend booking a certified cab driver through our website. Prices for taxi services on Roatan do vary, but you should expect to pay $80 or so per person. If you've booked your stay with a hotel, ask them about their shuttle service. Sometimes they will pick you up free of charge or for a reduced rate.

PRO TIP: The cheapest transportation method is via car rental. You can rent a car on Roatan for as little as $50/day. Contact Us here if you'd like to rent a car from a local.
