Roatan Mango Festival 2025
On June 29, 2025, the colorful coastal village of Lower West End will come alive once again for the beloved Roatan Mango Festival — an annual celebration that brings together the island’s love for mangoes, community spirit, and cultural pride.
This joyful event has been celebrated for over a decade, originating from the passionate efforts of local community leaders, artisans, and entrepreneurs who sought to spotlight one of Roatan’s most abundant and beloved fruits: the mango. Early editions of the festival began as grassroots community gatherings where neighbors shared mango-based recipes, danced to local music, and celebrated the richness of the land. Over time, these small celebrations grew into one of Roatan’s most iconic annual events.
Today, the festival is supported by a wide range of local organizations and tourism advocates and continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the island’s creativity, resilience, and deep connection to nature.
The Mango as a Symbol of Island Life
In Roatan, the mango is more than a delicious fruit — it is a cultural symbol. Mango trees grow in abundance across the island, and every mango season brings people together through shared harvests, sweet recipes, and childhood memories. Whether it’s mango slices on the beach, homemade jam in a village kitchen, or tropical cocktails at a beach bar, mangoes have become a flavorful thread that connects the island’s past and present.
The Roatan Mango Festival reflects this deep connection between nature and community — a celebration of both the fruit and the people who cultivate, share, and transform it.
Meet the 2025 Roatan Mango Festival Queen: Ms. Kaylee Johnson
The Roatan Mango Festival is proud to present the 2025 Roatan Mango Festival Queen, Ms. Kaylee Johnson. Kaylee is a native of Roatan, she is a smart, hardworking, and beautiful young woman with big dreams and a heart full of ambition. She began her academic journey at ESBIR in Coxen Hole before relocating to New Orleans, where she completed high school at East Jefferson High. She is currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.
Much like her late grandmother, Mrs. Kay Smith-Johnson, Kaylee is a lover of music and dedicates herself to playing the piano when she's not studying, working, or spending quality time with her mother and younger siblings. Her goals are as inspiring as her story — Kaylee hopes to one day represent Honduras as Miss University.
Her presence as Mango Festival Queen is not only a celebration of beauty and grace, but also of determination, education, and local pride.
