Chess players from Honduras and beyond will have the opportunity to compete in the Próspera Chess Cup 2026, a rapid chess tournament taking place from June 26 to June 28 at DUNA Tower in Próspera ZEDE, Roatán. The event will bring together FIDE-rated players for a weekend of competition in one of the Caribbean’s most innovative destinations. Organized under official FIDE regulations, the tournament offers both significant prize opportunities and a chance to test skills against a diverse field of competitors. Tournament Format and Competition Structure

The Prospera Chess Cup 2026 will be played using the Swiss System format, allowing competitors to play multiple rounds while facing opponents with similar performance throughout the tournament. The competition will consist of 11 rounds, ensuring plenty of opportunities for players to improve their standings and compete for top prizes. Games will be played at a rapid pace using a time control of 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move, creating an exciting and dynamic environment for both players and spectators.

All matches will be conducted according to the current regulations established by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
