Annual Lionfish Tournament
The Lionfish invasion is arguably the greatest threat to marine life in history. I have been advocating it for six years. Jennifer Keck, marine biologist at Anthony's Key made me aware of it in 2012. Fishing laws can be changed to revive overfishing. Pollution can be cleaned up to save our precious seas and oceans. However, once the Lionfish devastates a reef, it may be 100 years or maybe never come back.
Roatan must ramp up our efforts as other Caribbean islands have to help eradicate this fish. We simply must create a larger awareness than what the Roatan Marine Park and Jack Mitchell has accomplished so far.
Throughout the Caribbean, the derbies and tournaments are bringing in record hauls this year and my hunters have started bringing me twice the amounts they were six months ago. I have had to slow them down. This has become a very serious matter and yes please help us to share this awareness.
